Formula
Net = pledges − pledges × cut − (pledges × fee% + fixed × patrons)= 256
Note
This is a simplified model: it applies the counts, rates, prices and fees you enter to plain arithmetic. Every platform cut, payment fee, CPM, royalty per play and commission rate is a value you supply, because no platform's revenue share, advertising rate or payout rate is fixed: they change over time and differ by country, contract, category, audience and season. Engagement, open, click and unsubscribe rates are the standard definitions, but each platform and email tool counts interactions, reach, delivered mail and opens differently, so a rate is only comparable against numbers counted the same way; image-blocking and privacy features in particular make open rates unreliable. Revenue estimates ignore taxes, withholding, currency conversion, refunds, chargebacks, invalid traffic, minimum payout thresholds and payment delays. The churn projection assumes a constant monthly churn rate and a constant number of new subscribers, which real audiences never follow. Treat every figure as a rough planning estimate, not a forecast of what you will be paid, and check your own platform statements and any contract before relying on it. This is not financial, tax or legal advice.

How is net payout from a membership community calculated?+
Multiply the number of paying members by the membership price, then subtract the platform's percentage cut and any payment processing fees. 200 members at $10/month with a 10% platform cut and 3% processing fees nets roughly $1,740 (from $2,000 gross).
Why does the order of deducting platform cut versus processing fees matter?+
It can matter slightly depending on whether the platform takes its percentage before or after processing fees are deducted — check your specific platform's stated calculation method, since compounding the two deductions in a different order produces a marginally different final number.
Does this calculation account for members who join mid-month?+
Not by default — it assumes a full-price full period for each member. Prorated signups (a member joining halfway through a billing cycle at a reduced first payment) need to be calculated separately and added to the total.
Why is my actual bank deposit lower than the calculated net payout?+
Taxes, currency conversion fees (for international members), chargebacks, and failed renewal payments all occur after this calculation's scope and further reduce what actually lands in your account beyond the platform's stated cut.
How do multiple membership tiers affect this calculation?+
Each tier needs its own calculation (member count times that tier's price), since a single blended calculation using an average price will be inaccurate if tier membership isn't evenly distributed — sum the per-tier net payouts for an accurate total.
