Note

This is a simplified model: it applies the counts, rates, prices and fees you enter to plain arithmetic. Every platform cut, payment fee, CPM, royalty per play and commission rate is a value you supply, because no platform's revenue share, advertising rate or payout rate is fixed: they change over time and differ by country, contract, category, audience and season. Engagement, open, click and unsubscribe rates are the standard definitions, but each platform and email tool counts interactions, reach, delivered mail and opens differently, so a rate is only comparable against numbers counted the same way; image-blocking and privacy features in particular make open rates unreliable. Revenue estimates ignore taxes, withholding, currency conversion, refunds, chargebacks, invalid traffic, minimum payout thresholds and payment delays. The churn projection assumes a constant monthly churn rate and a constant number of new subscribers, which real audiences never follow. Treat every figure as a rough planning estimate, not a forecast of what you will be paid, and check your own platform statements and any contract before relying on it. This is not financial, tax or legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

What does click-to-open rate (CTOR) measure that open rate and click rate don't?+

CTOR divides clicks by opens (not by total sent or delivered), isolating how compelling your content and calls-to-action were to people who already opened the email, separate from how good your subject line was at getting the open in the first place.

How is CTOR calculated exactly?+

Divide unique clicks by unique opens, then multiply by 100. If 2,500 people opened an email and 300 clicked a link, CTOR is (300/2,500) x 100 = 12%.

Why would I look at CTOR instead of just click-through rate (based on sent/delivered)?+

Click-through rate conflates two separate skills — getting the open (subject line) and getting the click (body content and CTA) — while CTOR isolates just the second one, telling you whether your email body actually persuades people once you already have their attention.

What's considered a strong CTOR?+

10-20% is a commonly cited healthy range for a well-targeted email, though it varies by content type — a newsletter with several links naturally spreads clicks thinner than a single-CTA promotional email, which can post a higher CTOR.

My open rate is high but CTOR is low — what does that suggest?+

It suggests your subject line is working well but the email content or call-to-action isn't compelling enough once people open it — worth testing clearer CTAs, more relevant content, or a stronger value proposition inside the email itself.
